PROTECT THE EARTH, PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN

April 22, 2009

Families can receive a free Child Safety ID kit during the Second Annual Earth Day Clean Up celebration in Cedar Springs on April 25 from state Rep. Tom Pearce.

The Rockford lawmaker will be at the Cedar Springs American Legion Hall at noon with kits from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"I'm happy to provide these identification kits to parents in the hope that they can help families talk with their children about safety, not talking to strangers and finding help in an emergency," Pearce said. "I'm hoping lots of families stop by the Legion Hall during the Earth Day activities."

The kit includes a picture of the child, vital information such as height, weight, age, as well as additional child safety information.

The Legion Hall is located at 91 First St. in Cedar Springs.

COLUMN BY REP. TOM PEARCE - December 2009

WHAT IF...? One of the greatest joys I experience is living in such an incredible community. When there is a need we give, when someone is hurting we care, and when someone experiences success we celebrate. What if this Christmas, while we remember the greatest gift ever given, we each look for a neighbor in need and take the time to reach out in some small way. Who knows how much good can come from a few simple acts of kindness?
