Upcoming Events

"How to Find Employment in 2010"
Wednesday, February 3, 7pm at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, 48115 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Township
I will be speaking on job-related issues from a state policy perspective. Come join me to hear results of the Jobs Task Force and current policy initiatives in the House Commerce and Tax Policy Committees. I will also share some of the predictions by the House Fiscal Agency on jobs and the state budget. Cheri Wargo, a respected Human Resource Manager for a major Macomb employer will show you what it takes to standout from the others to find success within your employment search. An internet recruiting firm and free blood pressure screening will be available.
You must RSVP to attend this event to careerministries@yahoo.com.

Coffee Hours
I am hosting my monthly district office hours on February 5, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. at the Country Inn of Macomb, which is located at 51292 Romeo Plank Road. I hope you can stop by and introduce yourself.

Family Skate Day
Monday, February 15, 2-4pm at Suburban Ice-Macomb, 54755 Broughton Rd., Macomb Township
Come join me during me for the third annual Family Skate Day during the public schools winter break for an enjoyable afternoon of skating. Admission and skate rental are free to area residents. Arrive early to ensure your skate size is available. Assistance may be provided to beginning skaters by local figure skating club members. A brief figure skating exhibition will take place at 3pm. Representatives from the Macomb Food Program and Forgotten Harvest will be on hand with information about programs to provide emergency food assistance and home weatherization in Macomb County.

Property Tax Workshop
Monday, February 22, 7pm at Bethel Church, 51850 North Avenue, Macomb Township
Back by popular demand is a workshop to teach you how to appeal your property tax assessment. Local boards of appeal meet during the second week of March, so come learn the laws that apply to making assessments to learn whether you have a good case for appeal. I will be joined by local Macomb Township Assessor Phyllis Sharbo and Macomb County Equalization Director Steve Mellen, who will discuss trends with Macomb County property values and foreclosures.
